PenFolk Publishing is owned and operated by Bill Ellemor. After over twenty one years as a teacher of English in secondary schools Bill left teaching in 1991.
His interest in publishing stems from a long-held interest in books, good creative skills, and a love of language and the process of writing. This interest flowered during his teaching years with significant experience in the production of a wide range of school publications — course handbooks, school magazines, newsletters and curriculum materials.
He purchased PenFolk Publishing in April 1998 following five years of part time desktop publishing.
You have the story, you’ve written it well, you want to publish it in a way that does it justice. But how?
There are alternatives to the cheap typed document photocopied at the local library. PenFolk Publishing can help you to produce a fine publication by means suited to any size project. The services we offer include:
- advice and guidance on designing and focussing your book for it's intended audience
- editing and proof reading, including advice and guidance on expression if required
- working with you to develop an appropriate design and layout of pages and cover
- scanning photographs and illustrations
- design and layout of charts and tables
- selection of colours and styles, paper stock and cover material
- producing the finished artwork
- printing, binding and finishing your book
We take pride in producing work of the highest possible quality, and provide a service that is personal, friendly, co-operative and confidential.
How much will it cost? There are many variables which will determine the final cost of producing a book — the size and complexity of the task; the levels of input you require from us; the number of pages of text; the number, type and condition of photos and illustrations you wish to include; the number of copies to be made; and the printing and binding choices you make. However, an exploratory talk with us will cost you nothing!
Our service is adapted to suit your needs. We can take you through all stages of your project, or provide guidance and assistance with specific elements. We can advise you on the range of options available for promotion and distribution of your work, and produce any publicity materials you require.
PenFolk Publishing is governed by the following principles:
- to regard good design as the essential starting point for all projects, rather than merely a necessary precursor to production
- to produce publications of the highest standard possible within the budgetary constraints of clients
- to provide service, advice and guidance to clients which is second to none
- to deliver service from the wide range of options available designed to suit the needs of each individual client and project
- to maintain complete communication with clients to ensure that they are fully informed of the choices available to them and the range and nature of the work required to achieve their goals
- to establish a strong and loyal relationship with clients based on reliability, quality of service and complete confidentiality
- to continually upgrade our own skills, equipment and facilities to enable the provision at all times of the best service possible
- to maintain and develop a strong network of service providers to ensure our ability to meet the full range of needs of our clients
We'd love to hear from you and help turn your project into a reality.
